Problem

Dawson Contract Piling Ltd ran a trial of the TuffTrak® in January 2010 for a British Research Establishment project. The road on to the site had not been used in 3 years and was in a poor state of repair. Access was required for a 50 tonne mobile crane and a 60 tonne piling rig.

Solution

Zigma Ground Solutions provided Dawson Contract Piling Ltd with a number of prototype TuffTrak® to test and use. The mat was used over the worst 15metre section of roadway and was very effective allowing the crane and piling rig to pass over the TuffTrak® with ease. TuffTrak® proved to be successful and fulfilled the needs of the client.

Verdict

The client of Dawson Contract Piling Ltd was very pleased with the performance of TuffTrak® and since running the trial, Dawson Contract Piling Ltd have continued to use the TuffTrak® on various jobs, including road protection for the new tramway project in Edinburgh. The mat has also been successfully used in the Olympic Park providing instant access solutions and is still in use for London Underground. From the 20 September Dawson Contract Piling will be starting one of several separate projects in the Olympic Park and the TuffTrak® will be used for various access to ground bearing solutions.
